Callaway has previously employed artificial intelligence (AI) in the design of drivers and irons, and now they have extended the use of AI to Odyssey putters. The AI computer was utilized to work on the clubface, specifically with the aluminum inserts (in the Ai-One) and titanium inserts (in the Ai-One Milled). The outcome is a design with various contours on the back, reducing speed loss when the sweetspot is missed.
Due to increased consistency, the effective sweetspot size has expanded. Robot tests indicate that putts with the Ai-One end up 21 percent closer to the hole, and with the Ai-One Milled, up to 7 percent closer.
